Resolution Of Racemates

Resolution Of Racemates

Description

Product Description

D-camphor-10-sulphonic acid by Research-Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade chemical reagent. Camphorsulfonic acid is an organosulfur compound often used in the resolution of racemates. This process is the separation of racemic mixtures into their component enantiomers. This compound is classified as a strong acid which is a colourless solid at room temperature. It is soluble in water and a wide variety of organic solvents. Camphorsulfonic acid is generally synthesized by the sulfonation of camphor with acetic anhydride and sulphuric acid.

This reagent has various uses including the resolution of bases, crystallization-induced asymmetric transformations as well as it can act as a mobile phase additive for LC separations. It can be successfully applied in the resolution of ()-S-methyl-S-phenylsulfoximine to produce the (-)-form of high enantiomeric purity. D-Camphor-10-sulfonic acid may also be used as an intial substrate to synthesize 10-iodocamphor. Furthermore, Polyaniline doped with D-camphor-10-sulphonic acid produces electrically conductive polymer nanofibers, which are excellent ammonia gas sensors. Camphorsulfonic acid is also used in some pharmaceutical formulations, where it is then referred to as camsilate or camsylate.
