DEOXYRIBONUCLEASE I

DEOXYRIBONUCLEASE I

Categories:

Deoxyribonuclease I by MP Biomedicals is a high purity enzyme. Commonly known as DNase, this enzyme degrades DNA strands by cutting the phosphodiester linkages in the DNA backbone. Deoxyribonuclease I cleaves DNA preferentially at phosphodiester linkages which are adjacent to a pyrimidine nucleotide, providing 5′-phosphate-terminated polynucleotides with a free hydroxyl group on position 3′. A pH between 7 and 8 is optimal for this enzyme activity. CAS No.: 9003-98-9 Quantity Provided: 5 mg per bottle Type I DNase Extracted from bovine pancreas DNase I acts on single-stranded DNA, double-stranded DNA, and chromatin Specific activity: 2000 kunitz u/mg dw (one unit causes an increase in absorbance at 260nm of 0.001/minute per ml at 25C, pH 5.0) Deoxyribonuclease I is a crucial enzyme in molecular biology laboratories. These may be used to remove DNA from protein samples and other experimental procedures where DNA degradation is desired. In DNA labelling applications, these enzymes are used in the first step to nick DNA strands to add bases. DNase is also commonly used when purifying proteins which are extracted from prokaryotic organisms. It has also been used in research, for example, to study that Deoxyribonuclease I is classified into three types based on differences in its tissue concentrations.
