It contains several nutrients, amino acids, vitamins and several other growth factors which support the growth of bacteria. It is used for the preparation of bacterial culture media, in the form of liquid media or agar plates. The salt content of the powder promotes the microbial growth. The yeast bacteriological growth media contains protein, nitrogen, amino nitrogen and ash. The media supports the growth of E.coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
