Urea (Molecular grade)

Urea (Molecular grade)

Categories:

Urea by MP Biomedicals is a high grade reagent. Also known as carbamide, this amide compound has two NH2 groups joined by a carbonyl (C=O) functional group. This reagent is available as a white powder which is soluble in water. It is neither acidic nor alkaline when dissolved in water. It has a melting point at around 133 to 135 C and a density of 1.32 g/cm. The body uses it in various processes, most notably nitrogen excretion. The liver forms it by combining two ammonia molecules (NH3) with a carbon dioxide (CO2) molecule in the urea cycle. CAS Number: 57-13-6 Quantity provided: 1 kg per bottle Chemical formula: CH4N2O Molecular weight: 60.06 Urea has a wide range of applications in biological and chemical industries. Most of the produced urea is destined for use as a nitrogen-release fertilizer. It has the highest nitrogen content of all solid nitrogenous fertilizers in common use. Urea is used as a raw material for the manufacture of urea-formaldehyde resins, and urea-melamine-formaldehyde used in marine plywood. Urea in concentrations up to 10 M is used as a powerful protein denaturant since it disrupts the non-covalent bonds in the proteins. These reagents are suitable for industrial and research applications.
