Sulphosalicylic Acid (3%)

Sulphosalicylic Acid (3%)

Glucose broth is a medium designed to support the growth of dextrose fermentative organisms. This broth is prepared without alternate carbon sources such as beef extracts, which makes the only available carbon source glucose. This medium accelerates the growth of the microorganisms as glucose is a carbohydrate source for most microbes. 0.5% glucose is used in this medium, apart from casein enzymic hydrolysate and sodium chloride. It is also used in combination with Durham’s tubes to analyse microbial gas production. No indicators are added to this medium. It supports the growth of organisms like E.coli, Salmonella typhi, Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermis, etc.
