Eosin, 2% w/v is supplied by Micromaster. It is available in the form of a reddish orange solution which is clear with no insoluble particles. It is advisable to store this product below 30°C in tightly closed container and away from bright light.

Eosin, 2% w/v is used as solution for monochrome staining of bacteria and most commonly used as counterstain for hematoxylin. Eosin is tetra bromofluorescein (a substituted xanthene), a red acidic dye and fluorochrome. The dye is very soluble in ethyl alcohol and also used for the staining of cytoplasm. Eosin Y is the most commonly used counterstain for hematoxylin.
