Description

Product Description

Evans blue is manufactured by Securex lab Sciences. Evans blue is an azo dye. The dye appears as blue crystals with a greenish-bronze lustre. It Is used to study cell viability. It is an exclusion dye and does not permeate living cells. It enters cell membrane of dead cells and imparts a blue colour to the cytoplasm and the nucleus. It can be used to estimate the water content in blood plasma due to its ability to bind to serum albumin. Evans blue is used to check the blood-brain barrier permeability. Serum albumin cannot enter an intact blood-brain barrier. Therefore, Evans blue, being bound to serum albumin, also cannot enter a healthy blood brain barrier.
